MY THOUGHTS:

I was so excited to start this book after reading the amazing end of Opal  (Lux #3) Read my review here.

I can say though, that it took me a while to get into the story which is unusual in Jennifer's books. I must admit that I felt like Daemon wasn't himself at the beginning but that was solved once he started being the Daemon I love. (witty, smug and above all: sexy!)

"Are you scared?Daemon chuckled softly.
"Me, seriously? No."
"You are too awesome for that?"  He kissed the sensitive spot under my ear, sending a wake of shivers through me.
"you are learning. I'm proud of you."I laughed.

Regarding other characters:

  • Kathy can really kick som a**. She is fearsome.
  • I like Archer's seriousness and protectiveness towards Kathy.
  • Blake's role bored me, it was more of the same.

Writing:

It had funny parts, I swear I was ROFL with the "interrupting cow". It flows easily and after that tiny inconvenient at the beginning with an unrecognizable Daemon, it was superb.

Plot:

The scene where they get together is so tender. *_______*
I'm just fascinated by their chemistry. It grows look after look, kiss after kiss.

I reached out and placed my uninjured hand on his shoulder. His light pulsed and the red at the edges bled inward an inch or so. Interesting.
"You know how much I like it when you touch me in this form". His voice sent a shiver down my spine.
"Why do you have to make everything sound so dirty?" But I didn't pull my hand back.
His chuckle rolled through me and by then, the pain in my palm had stopped. "I'm not the one with the dirty mind, Kitten."

This book has a lot of action. I think it was a great twist what happened with the LH - 11.

As a fan of "Sweet Evil" by Wendy Higgins, I liked the "Anna Whitt/ Kaidan Rowe" part so much.
The good thing about this author is that when everything looks ok and you think there is no more action to come, BOOM! you get an unpredictable turn of events. And then again, you think "that's all" and suddenly 5 pages before the end J.L. Armentrout drops a moon-size bomb!

OMG! Holy cr*p!

I need Opposition (Lux #5) NOW!

MY THOUGHTS:

Absolutely loved it! I am officially in love with a new series. I devoured this book in just a few hours.

It is so fast paced, many things happen that my only complaint would be: it was too short!

The plot is very entertaining and we learn a lot about Venus and Michael's origins.

I would have liked a little more Zaren and Michael but it was a nice read.

Ramien, ugrrrhhhhh! disgusting SOB! (sorry for the outburst but he is!)

I'm speechless, I finished it 5 minutes ago and I've already want to start reading the following book! And sadly I have to wait until February! booooo!

The good thing about this instalment and how it flowed so easily, is probably that I'm already used to the terms that felt confusing in the first book.

Though I keep pronouncing "federer" instead of "ferether" lol.

Don't miss the chance to read this series, it's sweet, amusing and unique.

Review: Exiled

Exiled (Immortal Essence Book 1)
by Rashelle Workman

SYNOPSIS:

Worlds divided them. Chance brought them together. Only love will save them.

An alien princess exiled to Earth.

An arrogant boy.
One week to get back to her planet or she'll die.
And, her only chance for survival? She must help the boy find his soul mate.
Piece of cake!

Stubborn, sixteen-year-old Princess Venus of Kelari wants one thing, to become immortal, that is, until someone exiles her to Earth, kills her irrihunter and takes her family.

Now she wants revenge.

First she’s got to get home. But before she can return to Kelari, the Gods have commanded her to help an arrogant boy named Michael find his soul mate.

Only she doesn't know the first thing about love.

Rather quickly, her inexperience with human emotion is obscured by other matters--alien-controlled psychotic teens that are out to kill her, and a government group that is set on capturing and dissecting her.

Worst of all, Venus will suffer a painful death-by-poisoning, thanks to Earth’s atmosphere, if she remains on the planet longer than one week.

Still, Venus is a Princess and she's got a plan. Surely, with her help, Michael will fall in love with a human.

But time is running out and Michael is falling for the wrong girl--her.

Genre: Paranormal Romance/ Sci. Fi.

Published: October 2nd 2011.

Series: Immortal Essence #1.

        Rating:4.5 stars!

MY THOUGHTS:

I really liked this book. I'm pretty surprised it has a 3.6 stars rating.
I must admit it was a little confusing at the beginning. So many names and creatures that made me feel lost for a while.

But then, as the story progressed and I was getting used to those weird and complicated names, I found it amazing.

It's a simple story: A Princess that is framed and exiled to Earth. She doesn't know why she is there, or who did that to her, but the only way the Gods can forgive her and let her back in her planet is if she accomplishes a mission: She has to help Michael find true love.
There is an interesting twist though, she has a week before Earth's air, kills her...

Around those facts the story has action, romantic chemistry and we can discover a wonderful world Rashelle Workman created for this Kelarian Princess called Venus.

She is a great character, ok... yes, she is a little lost regarding emotions but she experiences life through "new eyes" while she is on Earth and matures whereas the plot entangles.

Her Formytian (some sort of protector), Zaren, is the hottest thing on... should I say Earth? or the Universe? lol The tension between them is WOW! WOW! WOW! (no words to describe it)
And Michael, his story is heartbreaking, I felt so bad for him, It made me sad :( But his personality is magnetic and just loved him.

One detail I liked: the name of the chapters are all song's names!

Anyway, this is my opinion and I think it is a sweet and nice story.

Review: Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Onyx (Lux #2)

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.

Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

Rating: 5 stars (make it 10 stars!)

MY THOUGHTS:

(or what I could manage after reading this!)

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

Sorry I'm done, or not!

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

This book was definitely the best so far and that's hard to accomplish because I seriously loved the other 2!!!

Full of action and sexual tension! (but not sexual scenes so don't worry!)
Katy and Daemon are the best couple ever!
She is a little TOO stubborn but it makes the book way more interesting and Daemon... well... *sigh* SEXY SEXY SEXY! I'd so love to be connected to him LOL,

In Onyx, besides getting to see his already known hotness, we get to discover a sweet and caring side of him *swoon*

I won't tell a thing, no a tiny spoiler because this book really deserves to be read.

In any case, I was surprised by some unexpected turn of events and at some point, I almost fall from my chair.
As I was secretly hoping a specific thing to happen, when it actually did, I was infinitely happy!!! (and I was like: I knew it! I knew it! XD)

(yeah I know, I used a gazillion adverbs sorry!)

Anyway, an emotional turmoil!

and the end... WOW! just WOW!

Again I'm sorry for the lack of writing skills but Jennifer L. Armentrout leaves me speechless with every single book!
Ah! BTW, I hate you "Flake"!

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted my reviews of "Shadows" (Lux # 0.5)  or "Obsidian"  (Lux #1) yet. I decided to start with this one because I'm cool like that LOL, nah, just felt like posting this one, but the rest are coming soon :)
