War has taken everything from me. My family. My home. My innocence. In a country blasted by war and wracked by economic hardship, a young orphan girl like me has very few options when it comes to survival. Thus, I do what I must to live, to eat, and I try very hard to not consider the cost to my soul. My heart is empty, and my existence brutal.
The one impossibility in my life is love.
And then I meet HIM.
War is hell. It takes a chunk out of a man's very soul to do the kinds of things war demands of you. You live with fear, you live with guilt, and you live with nightmares. If you haven't been through it, there's no understanding it. War leaves no room for love, no room for tenderness or softness. You gotta be hard, closed off, and ready to fight every moment of every day. Lose focus for a split second, and you're dead.
Now the only thing that can save me is HER.

MY THOUGHTS:
I usually don't read books related to war, not for a special reason, they just don't sound appealing to me. But the cover of "Wounded" had something that caught my attention, besides being gorgeous I mean.
I started carefully not knowing what I would find and I am pleasantly surprised. This one has been by far the best book I've read this year (I'm over 30 already).
We have a story that is absolutely romantic but it has a reason, it has a perfectly developed plot.
It's not those stories where the protagonist just looks at him for the first time and not knowing why, falls deeply in love with the guy. NO, here the story unfolds slowly and amazingly.
The first 3 or 4 chapters are basically background. And thank to those I got to understand both Rania and Hunter's actions, why the acted as they did, and also I understood their choices.
I felt everything they felt, joy, confusion, fear, anger, EVERYTHING.
I wanted to step in the book to help them.
The sex scenes were carefully placed and written, and personally I didn't find them offensive or excessive whatsoever.
I would consider this one a PG +18 book but not erotic maybe.
The writing is super super awesome. The alternating points of view were great. I've read many books that alternate POV but sometimes it doesn't make sense or it is not needed, here it takes you into a whole new world of feeling and thoughts.
I absolutely LOVED this book. And I'm glad after all they went through they found each other.
