Review and character Bio: Incendiary by Amy A. Bartol.

Wow! I'm so excited to introduce you to this amazing book, this is the 4th instalment in The Premonition Series which is a MUST  for paranormal lovers :)

INCENDIARY by Amy A. Bartol

SYNOPSIS:
Cold, fine drops of rain fall softly on my cheeks as I emerge from the darkness of the ship's interior to the gray, overcast sky of the main deck. Pulling my dark pea coat tighter to my body, the wind lifts red tendrils of my hair. I walk slowly to the railing overlooking the water.

I catch my first sight of the Irish coastline; its craggy landscape makes me shiver in dread. I find it difficult to imagine now how the Gancanagh had made this their home for so long without anyone realizing it. The cold, moss-covered edifices practically scream their presence. As I study the shadows between the falling-down stone, I imagine creeping shapes of undead Faeries grasping the rock, waiting for our ship to draw nearer to their position.

Tipping my face up, I let the rain wash over me. It bathes away the frigid sweat of fear that has broken on my brow. "You don't know how fiercely beautiful you are, do you?" A quiet voice behind me asks, causing me to stiffen and fix my eyes on the rocks along the shoreline.

Character Bio:

REED WELLINGTON –

Reed pretends to be a wealthy, sophomore college student whose family is a major contributor to Crestwood College.  It’s just a façade, however, because he’s really a divine assassin angel.  He’s of the class called “Powers,” which are the military division of angels that are ordered to annihilate fallen angels.  Reed is extremely intelligent, harrowingly strong, and exquisitely handsome.  He, like most Powers, had limited emotions, but that changes when Evie enters his life.  Now he’s experiencing love and raw desire for Evie, emotions that leave him feeling lost.  His life was one of secrecy and isolation. He’s forbidden to reveal himself as an angel to humans so when he discovers Evie and finds that she is half human and half angel he’s confused by the need to destroy her and an equal need to protect her.  It’s Reed’s attraction to Evie, a magnetic kind of force that draws him to her, that leaves him with the sense that his love for her is...inescapable.

Reed’s Physical attributes:  he appears to be a 19-year-old (but he’s ancient), 6’ 2”, brown hair with a “in the now” style, green eyes that are almost gray around the edges, charcoal gray wings that are retractable and can be completely hidden within him and resemble an avian, chiseled face, flawless angelic skin, sleek muscles.

Reed’s Class of angel:  Divine Power angel – second tier of angel known as the military branch of angel or the “avenging angels.”  They’re instructed to annihilate fallen angels on Earth and to restore order to the universe.  They’re distinguished by their wing color that can be gray, brown, or green and resemble an avian.  Their military court on Earth is called Dominion. Their symbol is the sword.

Supernatural abilities:

·      Verbal power of persuasion – his voice is hypnotic, affecting mainly humans to do as he directs. This trait is unique to Reed.  It is not a standard angelic trait.
·      Immense physical strength - he can juggle minivans if he wanted. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Run extremely fast - Reed can move so fast he’s just a blur to the human eye. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Fly – he can fly by using his charcoal gray wings. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Acute hearing – he can hear Evie’s heart from across campus.  This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Higher visual acuity – ability to see vast distances and has night vision.  Able to detect several colors not in the human spectrum of vision, and allows the angel to see lingering “souls” who have not ascended (ghosts). This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Extremely lethal fighting skills – an assassin created for the sole purpose of killing fallen angels.  This is a Power angel trait.
·      Immortality – Reed will never die unless another being kills him.  If he is killed, he “ceases to be” because angels do not have souls.
·      Heal from serious wounds – ability to heal quickly and regenerate tissue, sinew and bone rapidly.  This is a standard angelic trait.

Who wouldn't like a piece of this hottie? And ladies, let me tell you, he is just one of the hotties you will encounter in this series. There are a lot of sexy angel girls for the guys too! lol

My Thoughts:

First of all, it's pretty clear that I LOVE this series. Actually I may venture to say it's my favorite series EVER!

That being said, Amy's writing is superb as always! I'm grateful that in this book I didn't find the words "several killing scenarios crossed my mind" because in book 3 they appeared a lot XD

The storyline besides being unique keeps entangling and getting more complex and at the same time entertaining.  I usually get tired of a series after the third or fourth book because they start repeating themselves or just get boring but with "The Premonition series" I just can't get enough. You'll know what I mean if you read them, it's just highly addictive!

The love story is great. At some moments I wonder why everybody is so damn  infatuated with Evie but it's so nicely executed that it feels right.

In this book we have a new "lover" which is hot as Hell (well, wait! who isn't in this story?) and also we have a new companion for Russell.
Yay! I was so sad for him. I mean, after all he is the soul mate and he was getting nothing whatsoever. And he was becoming a little pushy.

Another reason why I loved it is because it evoked a lot of strong emotions! I felt sad, happy, scared, angry.  I was freaking out the whole time!

What it is weird is that I always pick " a team" and here, I just love them all lol XD Can I have one of them?
Every character was deep until now, but they've reached a whole new level.
So far, we've read from Evie's and Russell's POV and here we also have Reed's. PERFECT. Simply perfect because it allowed me to know him better, if I liked him before, I absolutely adored him now.

If you like reading about angels and like paranormal romance, you MUST read these books.

P.S: The cover is gorgeous!

Author Information:
I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed. Top Reads of 2012

Here is a list of my favorite reads of the year. I tried to keep it short but I've read more than 115 books and happily for me, most of them were amazing (but that made this task a little hard)
Not all of the books were published on 2012 but I read them this year so...

Top 13:

(yes "Top 13", because I couldn't narrow it more and also because I'm cool like that :P)

Click on the cover to go to the book's Goodreads page :)

1 - Starcrossed (Starcrossed #1) by Josephine Angelini.

Fell in love with the characters! All of them, even the secondary ones.

The way mythology and modern life collide is stunning.
Originality mixed with a story we all know.
LOVED IT! (therefore the first place lol)
My review will come soon.

2- Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth.

WOW! Just wow! This book blew my mind! One of the best dystopian books I've ever read!
Kick ass female and male lead and a very original and incredible plot.
Left me flying for days!
My review will come soon.

3 - Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #1) by Wendy Higgins.

The cover grabbed my attention at first but I fell in love with Anna and Kaidan almost instantly.
Great characters, a fresh look into angels and demons and a high quality writing.

You can read my review HERE.

4 - Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

*Swoon* *Sigh* When I first saw the descriptions I thought: "Aliens? That can't be good, why the hype?" And then I read it.

OMG! This is a MUST for everyone that likes paranormal romance. Sexy characters with a smart plot. One of the best couples ever. Fun story.

Review coming soon!

5- Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry #1) by Simone Elkeles.

A cute, lovely teenage love story. I couldn't love this book more even If I wanted.
Perfect! I regret taking so long to read it.

Check my review HERE.

6- Rapture (Fallen #4) by Lauren Kate.

An amazing end for a great series. I had this pre-ordered since the first day and didn't disappoint me.
The writing is way better than in the other 3 books and the story is compelling.
Also it has a lot of Cam whom I LOVE and more action!

Review coming soon!

7- Finding Home by Lauren Baker.

This is an ADULT book. It goes around a touchy subject such as prostitution and under aged sex but it is so brilliantly developed that doesn't bother the reader in the slightest.  On the contrary it is one of the best love stories I've read. EVER!

Sean is incredible and delicious and Megan is just amazing! You have to read this. (If you are over 18!) Review coming soon!

8 - Rival Demons (Peachville High Demons #5) by Sarra Cannon.

This whole series is wonderful. I read the 5 books in less than a week and can't wait for the last one.
Harper is a great and complete heroine and Jackson well, he is simply perfect.
I love all the books but in this one the author overcame herself.

Review coming soon! Meanwhile you can read the review of the first book HERE.

9 - Blood Debt (Touched #1) by Nancy Straight.

Centaurs! How original is that? Combined with an awesome heroine, a sexy male partner and a smart plot we have a GREAT BOOK!

This one was a surprised and left me speechless :)
Read my review HERE.

10 - Dreamless (Starcrossed #2) by Josephine Angelini.

This coulnd't be different. I ADORED book one in this series and the same happened with the second.

The writing improved a lot and we have another yummy character to be delighted!
The plot gets more complicated and interesting!

Review coming soon!

11 - Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth

The second instalment of this series is as good as the first. With more depth in characters and a more entangled plot. With unexpected turns and a great end!
Can't wait for book 3!

Review coming soon!

12 - Onyx (Lux #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Daemon and Katy never disappoint! They are sexy, fun and smart. The chemistry between them is exceptional!

With a remarkable ability to leave the reader with the mouth opened, Jennifer L. Armentrout created a 5 stars book again.

Read my review HERE.

13 - Grasping at Eternity (Kindrily #1) by Karen Amanda Hooper.

An author I didn't know surprised me in the best possible way. A common topic developed in a "not-at-all-common-way" .
With a beautiful cover, a nice and cute story, very real and lovely characters and an even better writing style, Karen Amanda Hooper gathered the perfect combo for a great book.
My review is HERE.

As I said, this was hard. VERY HARD actually, so there are many other books that didn't made it into the Top 13 exclusive list (XD) but are worthy of reading and be mentioned here.

These are the categories:
