Today I'm happy to host again author Rebecca Graf and her work DEEP CONNECTIONS: a thrilling Paranormal Romance.
4.5 stars :)
"Love doesn't come in one chance opportunities. The real thing is persistent. You'll get a chance again. All you can do is be there when the door opens"
Deep Connections is written in third person. I usually have trouble with this, but here it works perfectly. I loved the different POV turning from Brenna, to Slaton to Creeper even to Tahnee.
The writing is amazing and smooth. So intriguing and at the same time romantic. The story is well built and the plot is original. It flowed easily and super fast. Probably due to this story being action packed! You know the feeling when you finish a chapter and you think: "WTF??? I need to read one more!" well, that happened to me often with this book, which ended up in me reading until 4 am hehe.
Yes, I can see why a few people compared it to Twilight, if you want to find the similarities you will... but honestly... every single Paranormal Romance book has clichés... the interesting thing is the way the author develops them, and Rebecca Graf made an outstanding job.
We start with one point in time in the first chapter and then we go back a few days to see how things unfold to get to that ecaxt moment. It kept me imagining ways and thinking: this is it! here is where it happens! and then no...lol until it finally did.
The characters... I loved almost all of them.
Let's start with the villain... OMG! he gave me the creeps! scary and evil, popping up in the least expected moments. Loved him! :D
Stalon and Layford... absolutely gorgeous and brave guys, strong willed and interesting in any angle you look at them. Wait! did I mention hot? :D
Even Grey, Eaton and Tahnee were nicely developed. You get them, you understand what they feel and why.
Brenna... well... Brenna freaks out so easily by every little thing.
She is like the protagonist of those silly horror movies where the killer is chasing the girl and she runs to the exact spot where there is (obviously) no way out...
Totally dumb, she always make the worst choices. Seriously girl, can you be more useless? duh!
Utterly unnerving. I hate her. Actually she is the only reason why this book got 4.5 stars and not 5.
She deserves........ a punch a in the face!
On the other hand, a character that can summon feelings in the reader is still a good character, though I could totally read the rest of the trilogy if somehow Brenna dissapears and the rest of the characters carry on with the story hehe.
I absolutely recommend this book, don't get mislead by the, maybe not so appealing, cover, it's worth reading it.
Can't wait to read Dark Connections (book 2 in the trilogy)
Enjoy your reading!!!
And btw, YES, I felt like putting gifs today :p
