Review: Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss
by Stephanie Perkins

GENRE: Contemporary Romance
Published: December 2nd 2010, by Dutton

BLURB:

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

MY THOUGHTS:

If I have to point a particular reason to say why I loved this book, probably I won't be able to. It is just wonderful in every aspect.
Not the most intelligent plot ever, not the most original story either but it just works so well that I couldn't stop reading and giggling and getting anxious until they kissed. And trust me, that took a really long time :D
Stephanie Perkins' writing is absolutely fantastic. With a thorough description of the scenes, characters and world but not at the point that makes it dull, with enough depth in characters but not wasting time building non-necessary background. It is the perfect combination.
I have to admit that even being an avid traveller I've never been fascinated by Paris until I read this novel. It's such a charming love story and the characters and setting just make it even better.

I love the way the romance was presented. Not happening in a second, on the contrary, growing slowly as days went by. I enjoyed falling for Etienne at the same time as Anna did.
But not only Anna and Etienne are great characters. The supporting characters of this book are so beautifully brought to life that you can't help feeling that you know them.
The little inconvenients that they come across are so true that they only add value to the plot.
And there are just little things that made me love it, such as Anna's emails with her best friend and her long hours on the phone with Etienne.

Anna and the French kiss is a must read for everyone I don't know why it took me so long to read it!!!
